Heli-School - Helicopter Flying Lesson - First Flight
Would you like to be a Pilot?
Flying a helicopter is complicated. The pilot has to think in three-dimensions and must use both arms and legs constantly to keep the helicopter in the air. When flying a helicopter one hand grasps a control called the Cyclic, this controls the helicopters lateral direction (forwards, backwards, left and right). The other hand grasps the collective which controls the up and down motion and engine speed. The pilots feet rest on pedals that control the tail rotor which allows the helicopter to rotate in either direction on its axis. Piloting a helicopter requires a great deal of training and skill, as well as continuous attention to the machine.
Initiation flight 1:
The Helicopter ‘First Flight’ experience consists of a pre-flight briefing to explain the basic principles of flying a helicopter. After this short briefing, the pilot instructor will take you into the air where you take orders for a flight of about 15 minutes. The pilot will assist you throughout the period of flight through dual-commands. At the end of the flight there will a debriefing meeting to discuss the flight.
Briefing and debriefing of 15 minutes and about 15 minutes flight
The ‘First Flight’ Experience is an ideal introduction to helicopters, it provides a glimpse into the exciting and challenging world of rotary wing flight.
Initiation flight 2:
To take the introduction a little further, embark on a flight of about 30 minutes.
Briefing and debriefing of 20 minutes and about 30 minutes flight
For a group of friends you can combine flights, alternating every 15 minutes flying.
Please note the above Initiation Flights are limited to the resorts Meribel, Courchevel, Val Thorens, La Plagne, Tignes, Val d'Isere, les Arcs and any other resort in the local area.
