Come
and check out the ice's temperature, have a go at learning to drive
on ice. With its roots embedded deep within go-karting Ice
karting is the latest craze to hit the ice. Ice
Karting is a very exciting and thrilling activity,
it’s fast and furious, even intense at times with
your driving skills being tested to their limits. Through the introduction of studded tyres, Ice karting is a totally new
driving experience requiring very different
driving skills where technique wins over outright speed,
allowing drivers of all ages and experience
as long as they are of a certain height
to compete on level
terms. Gentle nudging of the opponents karts is all part of
the fun, but excessive use of bumper car tactics will rapidly earn
you the infamous black flag forcing you into early retirement. Make a competition out of it or
just let each person take their turn to test there driving
skills and ability.

When you
arrive 5-10 minutes before your allocated time you need to
make your way down through the spectator seating to the side
wall of the ice rink to make it known to the Ice Karting
operator that you (and your group) have arrived and sign in.
You will then be told to wait until you are called. When you
are called you will need to grab yourself a hair net for
hygiene reasons and then find a helmet that fits. Helmets
will be located near where you signed in, close to the
entrance door of the ice. As soon as you all have helmets it
will be time for your instruction and safety brief - Pay
close attention to the brief as the operator has total right
to cut your Ice Karting session short if you do not obey the
rules! When the operator is ready he will send you out on
the ice to the karts where he will then tell when you can go
- Be careful it is slippery!
.
After your 10
minutes driving the Ice Karts has finished the operator will
stop the activity lining you all up in lines of two backing
the karts up behind each other as you found them when you
started. At this time you will vacate the ice, place the
helmets back where you found them and throw away you used
hair nets. Once you have left the Ice Skating rink it will
be time for a well deserved drink where you can chat and
laugh about your ice karting antics - Jacks Bar just across
the Bridge serves a lovely pint with a friendly atmosphere.

discrepancy of the Operator NOT Whitetracks as to whether
the child can take part or not.

.
The Ice
Karting company has eight Ice karts in total allowing eight
people to race on the ice at the same time. Occasionally
karts do break down meaning that there will be less karts
running - Unfortunately nothing can be done about this but
if the technical problem can be sorted there and then on the
ice it will not be long before the kart is up and operating
again. If the kart can not be fixed ice karting will
continue operating but with less karts.
